Mary Roberts Designation

Mary Roberts broke her leg in a fall and was given a walker while in rehab. Over the next 6 months, she worked on her walking and strength. Her physiotherapist then gave her Activator poles to try. These were a real game changer for her. “I love them…I feel safe and comfortable and…they allow me to walk more naturally” Mary is now continuing her rehab and walking – not bad for an “almost 90” year old!

Bruce Monley Designation

Bruce Monley has Multiple Sclerosis, and had given up his beloved hiking before he discovered Activator poles. “The weakness in my left leg had led me to give up walking. I had lost confidence after a number of injuries, including a fractured pelvis.” Bruce started walking regularly, and has even taken them to the Australian High Country where he used them for walking on bush tracks. “Using the poles has opened up a lot of possibilities for maintaining general health, travel and social opportunities. It’s been a life changer.”

Terry Arnold Designation

Terry has Parkinson’s disease and was finding it increasingly difficult to walk, especially outdoors. He received some Activator poles and immediately found they improved his gait to the extent that he is now walking around the block regularly with them. “They keep me under control” he says. ‘I couldn’t walk straight …with these I can walk in a straight line and for quite a while.”

Pole Walking Australia acknowledges the Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the first inhabitants of the nation and the traditional custodians of the lands where we live, learn and work.
